Faith in God - 4 Ways to Follow His Guidance

Did you know that having faith is one of the most important qualities of a follower of Christ? But what does it mean to have faith? Believing in Jesus Christ and claiming that we love Him is not enough. Faith must be demonstrated in the way we live our lives. It says in Hebrews 11:6, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” Here are some ways we can show our faith in God.

Live Differently.

This is especially true for new believers. The moment we accept Jesus Christ in our hearts, we also choose to live our lives differently. Our old ways are gone and we’re now ready to live the way Jesus Christ lived in this world. Our non-believer family members and friends may respond negatively to our new lifestyle. We will be misunderstood. Some of our friends may even turn their backs on us. But only through unwavering faith will we be able to continue our journey. It says in 2 Corinthians 5:17,"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come."

Pray Sincerely.

When we are in a difficult situation and what we just want to do is to escape or disappear from that particular moment, faith pushes us to go down on our knees and pray. Praying is an act of faith because through the words uttered in our mouths, we believe that what we’ve asked will be given to us. There will be times when we might think that what we’re asking is impossible, but we should remember that there’s nothing impossible to God. It says in Matthew 7:7, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” In faith, all we need to do is to ask.

Give To Others.

Giving, in the form of money, time or other resources, is an act of faith. If we give money to the church, for example, we have faith in God and we trust the people in the church that the money will be used for the purposes of God.

Serve Others.

Serving your family at home, co-workers and clients at work, or classmates at school is also an act of faith. Most of the time, when we do good things to other people, our efforts and good works are not appreciated. We even get a negative feedback on how our service is not good enough. But we continue to serve others by faith. Knowing that we do the service not to our fellow human beings but to our God.
