“Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart.”
- Proverbs 3:3
We cannot stress the importance of being kind among many other Christian values enough. So let’s take a look at small acts of kindness we can do every day and let’s get the memes rolling!
Remember the people who helped you along the way. You wouldn’t be where you are if other people haven’t shown you kindness in one way or another. Being grateful for what you have and how you have been treated helps us to become happy and content.
BE KIND TO OTHERS WHO ARE IN A BIND
Lift other people up as much as you can. That is to say we should not bring other people down of course. If you can afford to ease the pain of other people through words of kindness or simple acts of service that would be really swell. Just as Jesus was always kind to others who needed his help, we hope we could learn from his deeds.
ALWAYS BE CONSIDERATE
Being considerate towards others all the time is a hard act to maintain but with practice and patience you could do it 24/7. Consideration means that you respect other people and treat them decently. There are times when we feel stressed and very swamped and it’s hard to be polite all of the time but it’s important to remember “whatever is hurtful to you, do not do to any other person.”
FOLLOW THE GOLDEN RULE
No it’s not whoever has the gold makes the rules, it is: “In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you. For this is the essence of the Law and the prophets.” (Matthew 7:12) Everyday is a chance for us to work on improving ourselves and how we could treat others better. In turn we’re working on our attitude while building a healthier environment for others.
BE KIND TO YOURSELF
You can’t pour from an empty cup. As they say you will never speak to anyone more than you speak to yourself internally so show yourself some kindness. Your thoughts are an integral part of you and it’s not just thinking kind thoughts about others that’s important, you have to think kind thoughts about yourself too.
We’re only human beings and we can grow more with constructive criticism, so opt for being your personal cheerleader instead of being your worst critic. Build other people up and build yourself up.
